It's 七夕节 (Qīxī Jié) Qixi Festival this coming Saturday, which is Chinese Valentine’s Day.

The festival falls on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, rooted in the beautiful love story (àiqíng gùshì爱情故事) of Niulang the Cowherd (Niúláng牛郎) and Zhinü the Weaver Girl (Zhīnǚ织女). Legend (chuánshuō传说) says their love was forbidden by the Heavenly Emperor, forcing them to live apart on either side of the Milky Way. But every year, on this special day, magpies form a bridge so they can reunite.

Since then, Qixi has been all about expressing love. Nowadays, Chinese lovers go on a date (qù yuēhuì去约会) on that day and exchange gifts like flowers, chocolates, jewelry, and handmade crafts. Romantic dates often include special outings, scenic walks, or intimate dinners.

How are you celebrating Qixi? Share your love stories and moments with us!
