I believe that students today if they could have a bit more explosure to Confucianism would greatly benefit in their learning and cultural understanding.

At the 2024 Would Chinese Language Conference, govenment officials, scholars, teachers and students gather together. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishement of Confucius Institute. I posted questions to Chinese language learners and teachers here: What insights does Confucius philosophy offer us today?

Paul Manfredi     Pacific Lutheran University

I think particularly in a moment when the political discourse has become almost absurd, to return to the philosophy of Confucius and some of the basic principles is really an excellent way of correcting. I think of it as a corrective to bad discourse, particularly bad political discourse. And I find that when students begin to engage with these ideas even though they're very ancient, they realized they still have a lot of importance for the contemporary world. I would love it if a certain number of American politicians would read a little bit of The Analects. I think that would help the situation a lot.

Bridget Yaden     Pacific Lutheran University

I think it is important the value of kindness and education is forever, no matter what time you're living in, it is important to be kind to make human to human connections, to learn from each other and continue to grow.

Gilbert Gumoshabe     Confucius Institute at Makerere University

He was a transformative figure, a person who had the vision for the future, that the vision of we are seeing today. What he explained in his philosophy is what we are seeing today.

Anas Egwuatu Elochukwu    Confucius Institute at Nnamdi Azikiwe University

Confucius is one of the world's most famous philosophers. I have read about him, and I think his teachings, his values are good. So I think people all over the world should study the teachings of Kongzi (Confucius).
